In a step to preserve extracurricular sports and activities for students, Lindbergh Schools will begin charging a nominal fee for gate admission to athletic events, and for students grades 6-12 who wish to participate in extracurricular programs. The combined steps are estimated to generate more than $60,000 in revenue, helping offset $4.7 million in district budget reductions.
The Board of Education approved charging a one-time annual fee of $35 for high school students and $10 for middle school students as part of the budget reduction process last February. This fee covers unlimited activity and athletic participation for each student during the 2010-11 school year. read more

Lindbergh High School has been named one of “America’s Best High Schools” by Newsweek magazine for the sixth consecutive year.
Nine St. Louis high schools made the 2010 list, which ranks the best schools in the country based on how hard schools work to challenge students with advanced placement college-level courses and tests. LHS ranked 781 among the approximately 1,600 schools listed.
“I am proud of our high school students, teachers and staff for all their hard work,” said LHS Principal Ron Helms. “This Newsweek honor for the sixth year in a row recognizes that ongoing effort.”
Ranks are determined by a ratio of the number of AP, IB or Cambridge tests taken to number of total graduating seniors. The list of 1,600 comprises only six percent of high schools nationwide.

Proud parent Linda Cody could not attend Lindbergh High School’s graduation due to medical reasons, but with the help of Skype she was still able to watch her son Kyle walk across the stage and receive his diploma.
Soon after Mrs. Cody realized she could not attend Kyle’s graduation, friends of the family brought up the idea of using Skype to watch Kyle’s graduation live. Skype is software that allows its users to make free video and voice calls to other users. Jack Cody, Kyle’s father, had recently helped set up Skype on a friend’s computer and was familiar with the program. He enlisted two friends of the family to run a webcam at Chaifetz Arena during graduation, using a computer to broadcast the ceremony to Kyle’s mom in the hospital. read more

Lindbergh High School offensive lineman Michael Glover (right) signs a letter of intent to play for Central Methodist University. He is joined by Lindbergh coach Tom Beauchamp.
Congratulations to Lindbergh High School graduate Michael Glover, who signed a letter of intent June 22 to play football for Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
Glover, son of William and Deanna Glover, has played on the Flyers offensive line for the past four years, under the direction of coach Tom Beauchamp. He was named offensive tackle on the Missouri Football Coaches Association Academic All-State Team in 2009, and also made All-Conference first team defensive tackle, and second team offensive tackle. His most memorable sports moment at LHS was going undefeated with a 10-0 season in 2009.
In addition to his football accomplishments, Glover is in Lindbergh Renaissance, Reaching Adolescent Drivers (RAD), Character Council, Future Business Leaders of America, L-Club and the superintendent’s student advisory council.
Glover will play football for the Eagles at Central Methodist University, under the direction of coach Alan Dykens. He plans to major in psychology.
